Fair View wishes Happy Holidays to All!

Please accept my fond wishes for a Happy Holiday to all of you, my dear readers!

Earlier today I arrived safely home from my Mother’s house, where I had been since Friday a week ago. One of the things we did during my visit was put up the Christmas tree. She had kept it outside in a bucket of water, which had frozen solid. Her Polish handy man, Vinnie, carried it in and put it into the tub, where it sat overnight. The next day, the bucket had defrosted and came off, however, the tree was still encased in a block of ice! Below, we rinsed the ice off with hot water.

Then, I muscled the tree into the livingroom, tripped on the tree stand, and promptly fell over behind the flat screen tv. Nothing was broken, thankfully. We put the tree up and decorated it without further incident.

We spent the remainder of the week shopping, cooking and preparing for the big family get together held yesterday which went off without a hitch. Yay Mom!

Well, we did do some fun things while I was home. We went to the Nassau County Museum of Art and saw the Mort Künstler exhibit on the Civil War. We were just blown away by the two floors of his nearly photographic quality oil paintings.

Above is Rendezvous with Destiny, a depiction of Union Brigadier General John Buford leading his First Cavalry Division into Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on June 30, 1863. Find more information here.

Um yeah, he is a master artist! His use of light is amazing and reminiscent of the old masters. This is especially evident in his winter and moonlit scenes. His attention to detail is spectacular as well; each face has an expression of its own and may look like someone you know! I was extremely impressed with his body of work.

I am quite happy to be home and back to my little blog and puppy dogs! And now, back to the porn!

The art work is super fine – although some of us in the South still don’t think the war is totally over just yet :-)
